 A great way to teach the alphabetJul 09, 2010
My granddaughter has learned all most all of her alphabet thanks to this great game. It makes learning fun and easy and she picks out letters on T-Shirts, store fronts, almost everywhere we go. It is a great way to teach children how to spell and makes it fun so the children don't realize they are learning.

I purchased Jr. Boggle for my 5 yr. old grandson. He loves playing with it, and he's learning to spell at the same time.
It's also an excellent game to develop small muscle skills - twisting and turning the dice.

The game is a nice idea for helping children to become more familiar with the alphabet and words and spelling, but there is one huge drawback. The game uses only capital letters. Children are not typically going to see EGG written, but egg. They won't see NEST, but nest. My older two children (when 4 ½ and 2 ½) used to try to match up the dice with the cards on their own (no rolling, just turning the dice to find the letters), and thought it was fun. But, it didn't translate to them recognizing the words in other contexts, and it couldn't, because the game uses all uppercase letters whereas real-life uses lowercase.
It also is a bit difficult often to get the letters you need to finish the word, since there are a limited number of dice with lots of letters. You can potentially spend a lot of time just rolling and rolling and rolling, waiting for the right letter to come out. That's frustrating for little children.
Considering the capital letter drawback, the gameplay issue, and that the game is basically heavy-duty cardboard flashcards with several dice, the price is extremely high as well. I would pass on this game.

I like the toy although it was not the version I thought. I thought it came w/a built in timer. Still, very good!
