Great for putting baby back to sleep!Oct 06, 2005
By mommyof2 As a soothing device, this worked wonders for my daughter. She was waking up 5-10 times a night, but with this toy she is able to relax and go back to sleep about 80% of the time. It is sound activated, so when the baby cries soft music plays with a light display. At fist I thought the music was too loud and the light too bright but it worked like magic! Highly recommended!

Nice soother, but extremely sound sensitiveJul 11, 2007
By T. Nicholson I bought this toy for my 3 month old infant, so that if he wakes up from a nap and I'm on a business call, it will soothe him until I can pick him up. As another has mentioned, the light and music seem a bit loud, but he doesn't seem to mind too much. The only problem I have found so far is that ANY moderately loud sound in the house or movement to the crib will trigger the soothing mechanism, so even if he has just fallen asleep and the front door closes, or the phone rings, or the dogs bark, or just about any sound above a whisper occurs, it goes off. Once I went to check on my baby in the middle of the night and leaned on the crib with no noise and the light turned on and music began to play! Now I just turn it on when I think he might need it during day naps.

Night Sounds for sleepless babiesMay 15, 2007
By M. R. Jacobs When you try and find something that will help soothe your infant to sleep there are only a few things they seem to respond to. One, the sound of symphonic music to relax and resassure them. Two, the sound of a heart beat to remind them of a safe place(inside your womb). And thirdly, the sound of a familiar voice like that of a mother or father. Luckily, this toy captures all of the above and does so in a simple and colorful object that fits nicely over a baby's head.
My little son absolutely adores this night soother. Before he had trouble settling into the night pattern, but now being seven months, he drifts off to sleep and if he cries in the night, this toy is voice(cry) activated so it goes on automatically to help him drift gently back to sleep without having to get up to comfort him. It has been a lifesaver in our home.

I bought this to encourage my 4 month old baby to stay in her crib. She loves it. She enjoys the lights and the soft music. She often shows her amazement when she hears my voice coming out of the toy. This toy keeps her occupied, and helps her to settle down.

Just OKOct 30, 2009

I ordered this for our 5-month-old who is still waking every two hours. I had hoped this would help encourage him to go back to sleep on his own some of the time but it really hasn't helped at all.
The idea is good...when you have it on the right setting it will turn on automatically when the baby fusses or cries. The problem is that it also turns on when almost any noise happens in the house. Our nursery is upstairs and separate from the main living space plus I have the door shut and a fan blowing but if my husband coughs downstairs the soother turns on waking my son.
The other negative is that it doesn't play very long. When the baby fusses it plays for about 1 minute then turns off again. That is not long enough to lull my fusspot back to sleep. If you turn it on without the auto setting it doesn't play very long either, not long enough to go from light sleep to deep.
I give it to my son to play with when he is awake but it isn't too exciting. He likes to spin the smiley face and hear the funny sound for about 2 minutes and he can't work the spinner at all yet. The mirror is too small to keep his attention.
When the batteries get low our soother will play a continual note when on and when you turn it off the lights stay on until the battery drains completely or you change the batteries.
Overall I have to rate this item low since it isn't working for us at all. It was a great concept but doesn't follow through...maybe ours isn't working the same as others who have reviewed the product?
