Within 20 minutes of wearing this dress my daughter tore the seam of the top layer. The edge of the top layer has a serged finish, but that may have added to it being able to be torn off the dress. I'm guessing my daughter stepped on the dress or something as the length is right above her foot. So I took it to JoAnn's since we needed it for a trip to Disney in 4 days and they recommended gluing ribbon over the edge of the dress. That worked like a charm. My daughter wore the dress for 2 whole days at Disney world (walking, riding in their strollers, one day was a 16 hour day...). I came home and washed it and then she wore it for her birthday. We've had no problems since I made the hem modification and it withstood being washed very well. So, buy the dress but add the "folded over glued ribbon hem" and you should be fine.
By the way, the company I bought the dress from sent a replacement dress when I sent an email to let them know about the problem. I just didn't know they were sending one until I had already fixed the first one.

I have changed my views on this dress quite substantially. When we received it I thought it looked really trashy but it has held up really well and unlike the Disney ones - it does not have irritating seams. It actually is prettier than the disney ones because it is less glitzy.
My daughter wears it a lot and is in fact wearing it now. We have had it for a year and it is still going strong. I would definitely buy this again.
(This is in comparison to her Disney Deluxe Ariel costume which smells of fish (glue) and has very irritating/itchy seams inside the costume.)

I picked this dress over the one you find at target and walmart because I wanted something a little different. It is a very pretty dress, however it doesn't seem like it will last very long. It is very thin and my 3 yo wears it ALL the time. I'm surprised she hasn't ripped it so far. Also, the bottom of the dress does not poof outlike shown in the picture. Its very flat. My daughter wears her tutu underneath and that does the trick! Overall I gave this 4 stars because my 3 yo is truly in love with it and thats all that matters! She adores the silver slipper necklace that came with it too!

The dress is adorable and long enough to last several years.
It did not come with the necklace, but my granddaughter has enough play jewelry.She put her tutu underneath and it poofs out the skirt.
