After seeing the other review here, I thought I would leave one. This toy is great! I can't say enough good things about it. The scanner doesn't always work 100% but that makes it more fun and my just turned 5 year old can get it right about 80% of the time. If she doesn't get it, she can tell by the pictures or and just scans again. No big deal.
The 1 year old even loves it, but can't scan correctly. The speakerphone works great.
The toy is also educational because you Scan in items and it adds them together and then you pay cash or debit for the items. It has shopping lists that you scan and it helps you along as you add the items (identified by scannable tags).
All over a great toy, we love it! I got it on a super sale at Target for the holidays and am now wishing I had gotten several for gifts!

This looks like the most wonderful toy, and it would be if the scanner would work correctly. The scanner works sometimes, and other times it scans the items incorrectly, and sometimes the scanner doesn't work at all! Without the scanner, this toy is nothing but a standard calculator wrapped in princess decor. It is so frustrating for my child to use because the scanner doesn't work properly. I thought we had a "lemon" so I took it back to the store to get another one, and we had the same problems with it. I exchanged it 2 more times, only to have the same issues again. My child is so disappointed---she really wants it to work properly. We've read the instructions carefully, and we still have MANY issues with the scanner. After reading other reviews on Amazon and ToysRUs, I realized many others have had similar terrible experiences with this cash register. I am going to try the Barbie Shopping Time Cash Register---the reviews for this item are great. Don't waste your money or precious time on this cash register---you will only end up frustrated!

The idea is great and the accessories are theoretically good, but the quality is poor. Most notably, the 'open' button doesn't open the drawer.

We have had this for at least 2 years now and it is a favorite. The scanner does not always work correctly, but the amazing thing is it will "scan" any item with a bar code which also helps the little ones learn! My grandkids like pulling out my cans and packages out of the pantry and scanning and bagging their groceries!

For the ONE day that it worked, sort of, it was good. The day that it worked it scanned, and had a calculator and some nice features. Now after a week of it sitting on my table, it stopped working completely. all it says is "welcome to the princess chic boutique, we have a lot of shopping to do." thats it. i tried to reset it multiple times and it will not work. i changed the batteries over and over. Nothing. now it is a piece of plastic junk. hopefully toys r us will take it back without the box because thats where it is going.
