3-YEAR-OLD ABLE TO REMOVE HANDS RENDERING CLOCK USELESS!Nov 06, 2009 I bought the "Fisher-Price Fun-2-Learn Teaching Clock" for my 3 year-old grandson because he is fascinated with clocks and telling time. He already owns a wooden clock with removable numbers that he plays with to death. He has practically destroyed a real clock (the old-fashioned kind you wind up) by moving the hands around to show us what time it is. He went INSANE when he got this clock. At first he happily moved the clock hands around and told us what time it was but, because the clock also announces the time, he should begin to learn the minutes as well. Within a FEW HOURS of receiving the clock he was able to remove the hands rendering the clock useless! The information with the clock says it is for 3-year-olds and up. I would expect a 3-year-old to be able to move the hands constantly without the item breaking! I really expected a Fisher-Price toy to be durable for the age group it represents. On examination of the clock I don't think it was put together sturdily. I really don't want another one because I see it could easily be broken again. I would NOT buy this toy for very young children because it is not made sturdily enough for them-the hands are too easily removed. (Just a note-on the description of this clock it says it chimes on the quarter-hour and the half hour. The product insert said it only chimes on the half-hour and I noticed it only chiming on the half-hour.)
Fun For Time-Conscious KidsMay 29, 2009 I bought this for our son who is a few months past two.
He enjoys playing with the hands and likes the friendly voices that tell him what time he has indicated.
The chiming option can be shut off easily if needed.
Although not a definitive time-teaching toy, it will add to your efforts.
Teaching to tell time essential!May 03, 2009 I bought this as a gift for a friend's daughter, because I work in an after-school program for middle school students and most don't know how to tell analog time. It just so happened this was getting on my nerves when I spotted this wonderful toy. And apparently, my friend's daughter LOVES it! She said she could hardly put it down for days, and it may get a little annoying as it will keep talking to get the child's attention. Overall, she seems really pleased with it though (both mom and daughter), so I recommend it for the younger kids , about 3-6 years old.

Good purchaseMar 24, 2009 We brought this for a four year old boy who typically loves toys that are fast and noisy. He loves playing with this clock even though he has to move the parts, which I, as a parent, love. I was concerned about previous reviews which indicated the sounds could not be turned off and were too loud. This isn't the case. As a matter of fact you can select a "shhh" sound when the clock chimes on the half hour. My son has been enjoying it; he hasn't lost interest, he is learning to tell time and the concepts of past, present, and future, which a digital clock alone can't teach. It is sturdy, portable, and though a little pricey, does the job.
