| | | Description: | | The Star Station with two microphones lets kids turn any television into an instant hit show by putting the power of performance right into their hands. And now, the fun of the original Star Station is doubled with two wireless microphones. Kids can see and hear themselves on TV while performing to children's music. Using Plug and Play technology, the hardware unit plugs right into the TV, meaning the power truly is in kids' hands as they control the action. It's so much fun that family and friends will love to join in! With two mics, children can perform in perfect harmony while singing into their very own microphone. And because the microphones are wireless, there's no limitation to a performer's imaginative actions and dance moves. The Star Station will be accompanied by a music library of kid-appropriate songs. Hardware includes one ROM cartridge featuring four of kids' favorite sing-along songs. Additional ROM cartridges (sold separately) include a variety of music, with each ROM containing eight songs. The additional ROMs make it easy for kids to use as they can quickly and easily change the music and the theme of their show. Requires 6 "AA" and 3 "AAA" batteries, not included. | | | Features: | |

Sadly disappointedNov 15, 2007
By Vanessa M. Higgins I was really excited to give this to our daughter for her 3rd birthday- she adores singing and is super outgoing. Unfortunately, the microphones aren't great and it is difficult to hear her singing. The song selections also were disappointing, she of course, loves the Dora one. The Princess one doesn't have many "popular" princess songs. I wish I could really recommend this product, but I wish I had boxed it up and sent it back. Should have just bought a high quality microphone!

Many others are over-reacting, fun toy!Dec 25, 2007
By Erin Connelly I bought this toy in October and since then have seen many negative reviews about the quality of the picture and microphones. I was nervous to see how well it worked after we gave it to our twin 3-year-olds for a Christmas gift this morning.
They are playing with it right now and having a lot of fun. I'm not sure why so many others are hating on this toy other than they must be over-reacting and expecting too much out of a $50 toy. The camera is basically a web-cam and the quality is fine. It's not HD but still looks fine even blown up on our 60-inch TV (which I was anticipating to be a problem).
The microphones aren't exceptional but, again, are what I would expect out of a toy made for toddlers and preschoolers. They are so excited to see themselves on the TV and hear themselves through the speakers. The cartridge that comes with the system includes Wheels on the Bus, This Old Man, If You're Happy and You Know It, and Row, Row, Row Your Boat. How are others saying it includes songs kids don't know? We also got the Animal Songs cartridge with Old MacDonald, BINGO, and Itsy Bitsy Spider - which are all favorites thus far.
I guess my point is to know what your expectations are and shop accordingly. If you're looking for HD pictures and concert-quality microphones, plan on shopping outside of a toy store and spending thousands of dollars. If you're just looking for something for your kids to pretend and have fun, this is a good toy.
The other thing to think about is that there are two versions out there so it's hard to tell which reviews are for which toy. I noticed Amazon shows one as the picture in the search results but the detailed description shows a picture of the other. One is green, orange & purple with 5 lenses for creating special video effects. The other is purple, red and white with only a single camera. We have the single camera version.

Read the InstructionsJan 05, 2008

I hesitated to purchase this toy because of all the negative reviews but decided to try it anyway because my 2 1/2 yr old grandson loves to perform. I hooked it up before Christmas to test it. Following the directions on light placement made a huge difference. Although I think the microphone sound could be improved, my grandson loved it. It was his absolute favorite toy and believe me he got a lot of toys. He recognized himself immediately and within minutes was moving the camera to put others in the spotlight and bring them in on the act. If your child likes to sing or dance this TOY (remember it is a toy) will be a hit.

We're having fun...Dec 31, 2007

My daughter was given the NEW Star Station this Christmas. Her grandparents purchased it on sale at Wal-Mart for $37 (a reasonable price, I probably wouldn't want to spend any more than that).
My three "wishes" are: 1) It uses a lot of batteries. 2) I wish it came with more songs and they were performed in the "traditional" way. 3) I wish it had the "special effect" disks the original had.
We use our own music most of the time. In fact, we just play a CD and sing with it more than anything.
Emily LOVES it! We have played with it as a family many times. She LOVES seeing herself on TV and singing with it. So far, we play with it a couple times a day.
It is a really fun toy, but don't have super high expectations for the sound or video quality (as others have said).
We enjoy it!

Works great with iPodMar 25, 2008

We love this device.
Here are some points I didn't see in the other reviews.
Pros:
Aux input allows you to play an iPod through it. This is wayyyyy better than using the cartridges that come with it. By playing the iPod through the aux. jack, you can sing over the kid songs you already own.
The camera tilts down when it is off to keep the dust off the lense.
Cons:
The base work only on batteries. I am glad the mics are cord free, but the base has to sit
by the TV anyway, way not save us some $ and allow it to be plugged in.
