A year and a half later and the carousel is still going strong. I assembled it alone and found it a breeze. It is very sturdy and has held up to daily use. The pieces for the 'cubbies' have come apart a couple of times, but are easily re-inserted.
Its footprint is very small yet it holds so much! Previously we had a chest that took up a lot more room and the girls would end up having to take everything out in order to find a shoe or a piece of jewelry. The carousel is compartmentalized - a place for shoes, a place to hang up clothing several cubbies and shelves for purses and jewelry etc, so everything is a lot more accessible. It also helps in them being able to put everything away in its rightful place.
The girls love it and have used it daily since we purchased it (they LOVE dress-up!). The two full length mirrors are also a great feature. I initially didn't want to pay so much for an item such as this, but my daughters are now 3 and almost 5 and I think they will be using the carousel for a few more years, so it was defiantly worth the purchase price.

Guidecraft Dress-Up Pastel CarouselVery nice! Exceptionally durable! The instructions for putting together are a bit off, but once together, there is no way this is coming apart. The girls love it, but the pegs are a bit close together. Suggest purchasing some hangers to go with it. Plenty of room for dress up shoes, wands, tiaras, jewelry and other accessories. Best of all, it doesn't take up a lot of room like the "trunks" that the clothes usually come in.

I recieved and assembled this yesterday. I am VERY assembly challenged, yet was able to put this together with no assistance in under an hour with no trouble. It seems very sturdy and is super cute. No complaints except the price!

This is a wonderful dress-up toy for kids to put stuff, sort, use the mirrors to see themselves in their costumes and be able to actually see all the dress-up stuff they have. The only thing is that 1 of the shelf pieces on the back portion (opposite side where the hanging hooks are) did not fit at all to where it was 1" too short to reach the groove where it should have gone into. There is no way to fix it. So, we are just leaving that storage bin off and using it as an open shelf. It's not as useable that way, but it was not worth returning the entire piece after we had already assembled the rest of it. Other than that it's a great toy but pricey. Nice that it is tall and doesn't take up a lot of floor space and the mirrors are floor-length for kids :)

I ordered this as a birthday gift for my daughter who just turned four. She has a sister who will be three in two months and another sister who is 17 months old. Needless to say, we have lots of little girl dress up items. I was so tired of the girls piling all the dress up clothes and accessories in one large box that would have to be dumped out to find anything. I was a bit skeptical that this would be sturdy enough or have enough room to store lots of dress up pieces. I was pleasantly surprised.
There is plenty of room and even more pegs to hang things than is depicted in the picture. I am amazed how much my girls are able to fit in this caraousel....princess dresses, costumes, fairy wings, shoes, necklaces, crowns, wands, you name it. It's fairly easy for them to put things away on their own and get them out too. My girls are on the short side, so they pull a little stool over to unhook the dresses from pegs and reach the higher shelves.
We have had no trouble with them spinning the carousel around and they love the mirrors. The mirrors aren't the greatest quality, but perfect for little girls who leave fingerprints anyways. My husband and I didn't have too much trouble putting the carousel together. Took us about an hour. The directions are confusing, but we figured it out, and we are not that savvy when it comes to putting things together. It wasn't as bad as I expected, but better directions would definitely help. Also, I think it's a whole lot easier having two sets of hands.
The only thing I noticed that could be taken as a negative is that the screws show on the front panels. To me, they look smooth in the picture, which is a bit deceiving. I was a little surprised they don't include decorative knobs or even cheap white plastic screw covers to mask this. However, it's still a great product, and I don't really notice it any more. I'm sure a crafty person could think of a cute way to cover up the screw holes. I can barely find the time to get to the store with three little ones, much less make things look nice. So, for now, we're sticking with the screws showing.
I definitely recommend this product. The free shipping and the quick delivery were bonuses too.
