4Fun,educational and quiet!Oct 30, 2007
By LazyCats "LazyCats"
My daughter has plenty of toys with fancy lights and sounds that consume tons of batteries so I wanted something quiet. This toy was a good choice. I bought this puzzle when my daughter was 12 months old. She didn't start playing with it until 20 months. She now plays with it almost every day. Sometimes 2-3 times a day.

While she can match more than half of the puzzles at 21 months, she still cannot put the two matched pieces together. When she finds a match, she hands the two pieces to me and I put them together. I reinforce the educational aspect of toy by playing with her. I lay out all of the pieces on the floor and ask her to look for the black cat, yellow banana, beautiful butterfly, etc. When she finds a match, I praise her by clapping my hands. This encourages her to continue to play.

The box itself is also a fun game for my daughter. She's constantly trying to close the flaps and stick that one fish puzzle through the open slit. The box is also well made and has endured lots of pulling and tugging from the toy bin.

I only gave it four stars because this is a "two player" game. My daughter rarely plays with this puzzle by herself.

5One of the best puzzles for young kids!Sep 03, 2007
By A. F. Meneses
Get this for your child or as a gift. It is highly educational. It introduces different colors (the basics), as well as patterns (such as striped, swirly, spotted, etc.). And then, there're the different textures (furry, fluffy, rough, bumpy, etc.) which can actually be felt and touched by the child. These descriptive words and pictures are then matched to its corresponding partner (ex: swirly=lollipop, furry=rabbit, pink=pig) by means of locking in two puzzle pieces. The groove-and-tongue pattern is simple and big enough for young ones and every pair of puzzle is different. Great for teaching adjectives, pairs, vocabulary, textures, spatial skills, colors, etc.

3Not many textured piecesAug 22, 2008
By Jennifer Manista
We just got this toy today and I was excited to have my son start playing with it when we got home. The product/idea is great. I just thought that there would be texture on each piece so that the child could learn to match by color, word, shape or texture. Only about 4 pieces out of 20 have texture on them.

5Great ToyFeb 07, 2007
By P. Scott
We have had this puzzle toy since my son was one. (He's 3 now.) It has provided hours of entertainment and education. We started by just showing him a few choices and matching, now he can easily do the whole box himself, and enjoys it. I like the textures, vibrant colors and nice large sturdy pieces. The nice sturdy box to hold them is great too.

4Good productMay 31, 2008
By Sandflea3 "those stuff"
This product is pretty good quality. It's made of heavy cardboard and the puzzle pieces fit together well. My daughter, who turns 1 in a couple of weeks, has fun staring at the pictures and tossing the pieces around. Her favorite is actually the box that the pieces are supposed to be stored in. She carries the empty box all over the house. She likes the yarn that makes up the box handle. I'm sure we'll get more use out of the puzzle pieces once she's older.

One thing I felt was misleading- there are not many "texture" pieces. The title of this product is "matching colors and textures", but out of 20 pairs, only 4 have texture. For the child, though, this will not matter-- it's just that I expected there to be more (at least 10 out of 20) textures.
