Perfect for toddlers and pre-schoolersJul 20, 2010 Our now 3-year old has been using this stool to reach the bathroom sink for about 2 months and it's been terrific for all of us. It gives him the freedom to wash his hands at will without requesting assistance from us: he can reach the faucets on his own. He stands on the stool both barefoot and in socks, and has never once slipped or appeared like he would. He enjoys using the storage compartment for his bath toys. I had no trouble putting the stool together on my own. As with all KidKraft items we have purchased, this piece is excellent quality.
Works WellJul 15, 2010 I bought this to help my 2 1/2 year old son get up into his full size bed that his crib turned into. It came not assembled but was very easy to assemble. My son uses it every night and likes to hide some of his favorite small toys in it.
Good stool for the priceJul 07, 2010 This didn't put together very well - in one spot the "wood" started to split when I put the screws in, in another spot the screws aren't flush. But, it's a fairly sturdy stool at a good price. I use it around the house every day, and it supported me up to 175 pounds during pregnancy. I'd buy another, but it's not a something I'd show company.

It would be 5 stars if...Apr 24, 2010 Loooove the fact that you can have a durable, multi-purpose kids' item in the house (how many kids things only serve one purpose! holy cow, there are way too many!). Also, the latch on the storage compartment is very kid-finger friendly and not easily slammable. But, I was disappointed that there are a few things that weren't included as safety features in this piece:
1 - What exactly can be stored in this compartment? It is appx. 8" x 3.5" (not actual measurements), but there is room enough under the "steps" to include at least 4" more. Why not go all the way at least to the arc in the bottom of the step??
2 - There are no "grippies" located on the feet of the stool. We have tile and hardwood floors (as most bathrooms do??) and as this is primarily used as a potty/ washing hands stool, I'd expect some non-slip grips on the bottom.
3 - On the subject of non-slip grips, if there is any chance of water being spilled onto the shiny, painted surface, it will become extremely slippery. There should be some gritty non-slip coating or strips on the top/steps of the stool.
Otherwise, PERFECT item. It is really tough to find a good stool. And at $10 bucks (+ $10 shipping, which the total is cheaper than the other Amazon options!), it is worth the money to put the grippies on the stool ourselves. But would be a great idea to extend the storage option... Kids LOVE to have a place to store only their stuff.
Step N' Store StoolMar 02, 2010 This stool I purchased is not actually what is pictured.
It is actually tapered on the sides to make it more stable.
This is fine and it adds some stability for more peace-of-mind when kids use it.
It would be nice to see exactly what I am receiving, however as it reduces the surface area on top slightly.
The stool does have spring-loaded hinges so top does not slam on little fingers.
This stool was simple to assemble and is very sturdy when completed.
It uses plastic inserts for the screws instead of screwing straight into the MDF.
I ran a thin bead of silicon along the assembled edges as well to ensure the lasting stability.
This also has nice paint sealed surfaces which will last in the bathroom.
Overall, I am happy with the quality of this stool.
