Step N' Store StoolMar 02, 2010 This stool I purchased is not actually what is pictured.
It is actually tapered on the sides to make it more stable.
This is fine and it adds some stability for more peace-of-mind when kids use it.
It would be nice to see exactly what I am receiving, however as it reduces the surface area on top slightly.
The stool does have spring-loaded hinges so top does not slam on little fingers.
This stool was simple to assemble and is very sturdy when completed.
It uses plastic inserts for the screws instead of screwing straight into the MDF.
I ran a thin bead of silicon along the assembled edges as well to ensure the lasting stability.
This also has nice paint sealed surfaces which will last in the bathroom.
Overall, I am happy with the quality of this stool.
KidKraft Step 'N Store stoolFeb 15, 2010 Comes unassembled. Well made and the best, most simple directions of any product I've seen. I am a mechanical engineer, so I usually have no problem putting things together, even without directions, but KidKraft is the best I have seen. High quality MDF. Solid design. Every piece labeled. All hardware labeled. Instructions as simple as can be. Sides are also tilted inward, so the step is very stable. Would definitely buy from KidKraft again.
Great stool for the price!Feb 10, 2010 I have been trying to find a stool for my 17 month old grandson so he can learn to wash his hands and this is it!!! Also, thank you for shipping to Hawaii!!! I couldn't ship any of the others and I am glad I could get this stool!
flimsy and dangerous - don't buyNov 10, 2009 The wood developed small cracks around some of the bolt holes as we assembled it - and I am certain we did not overtighten the bolts. I figured it might work with some wood glue and extra screws, but then my four-year-old stepped on it and it cracked further, beyond repair.
Also, as other reviewers noted, this is slippery. It will slide all over the floor if you don't put rubber tips on the bottom, and the step itself is a bit slippery for a child in socks.
This is just an awful product. I wanted a heavier stepstool that my toddler couldn't tip over, but our lightweight plastic Rubbermaid stool is far safer than this one. The Baby Bjorn is a little small, but also a safer choice because of the rubber grips on top and bottom.
Once again, though, Amazon comes through - since the product is defective, at least I don't have to pay to return it.
Meets our needsNov 04, 2009 We bought this stool for our 18-month-old to reach the sink and the toilet. He loves the freedom it gives him. He likes to stand at the sink and brush his teeth. He is of average height, but it doesn't allow him to reach the faucet. That's fine with me, though! The stool itself was relatively simple to put together and it seems very sturdy. I would say you might want to put some non-slip surface on the top in case it gets wet or your children have socks on. It is pretty heavy and has handles on the sides, so only I can move it, which is a good thing. The storage space is a good size, although I'm not really sure what I would put in it. We chose this stool because it was a good height and seemed like a good price for the quality. We are satisfied!
