EXCELLENT for 2yrs to 5yrsMar 08, 2006
By Mommy The age on the box is 3 & up, but 2 yr olds also have lots of fun just playing with the ducks. The new quacking sounds are much better (softer) than the old one. The whole unit is smaller and fits into the box nicely. It uses 2 c size batteries, one less than the old one.
The Color matching is the same but now the ducks also have shapes to match too!
It's a classic fun game made better than ever!

Great Fun for Our Daughter, But Needs Improvement!Mar 06, 2007

"A proud military spouse and mommy!"
We bought this game as a potty training tool for our daughter. Every time she was successful, we would play this game. Well it worked like a charm because she was trained in about a week. Now that she is fully trained, she gets to play it whenever she wants and she LOVES this game, and even sings the jingle from the commercial while she's playing. It's quite comical.
But...I agree with all the other reviews...the noise and incessant quacking and loud motor is so annoying. Milton Bradley really needs to improve this game with an on/off switch, or at the very least, a volume button.
We have no problem getting it back in the box. I saved the cardboard pieces from the packaging and I think it shelters the start button somewhat. But you have to put three ducks in each corner of the box for it to close. And avoid putting anything on top of the box or it will set it off!
Overall, I'm happy with the game. My daugher caught on really fast and is so proud of herself when she finds "her" ducks. It's a great game for a preschooler. And while I find the noise annoying, the important point is that she truly enjoys it.

You'll need to buy a new storage box.Dec 31, 2006

This is the second time I have owned this game. The first time, I bought it at a thrift shop for my second daughter. She loved it. I think it was a little larger than they are now, but the older version had just colors on the bottoms of the ducks. The sounds were loud and annoying, but it had two batteries inside. One battery controled the "round the pond" motion and the other battery controlled the sounds. We found that if we removed the one battery, you could play without the sounds. I bought this toy again for my third daughter, age 5 for Christmas 2006. I haven't played it myself yet, but I noticed the sound on this new version isn't as loud and therefore, not as annoying. I haven't checked the battery situation yet on this newer version to see if one can be taken out to mute the noise. I have noticed that the ducks have both colors and shapes underneathe to make the game a little more interesting and a little more educational. My BIG COMPLAINT is the packaging. If you get this game, plan on buying your own box at the same time. They make it so that you can't repack it and put it away in the original box. This is why I didn't give it 5 stars.

Fun for kids, but makes Mom crazy!Aug 09, 2007

My boys, ages 6 and 3, love this game. They play it all the time. The quacking will drive you nuts. I make them play it with the playroom door closed. The game we have is about 8 years old. It belonged to a friend's child first. (I say 'friend'. After a few days of quacking, I wasn't so sure she liked me.) So, I would say it is very durable. The batteries last forever too. My boys have done all sorts of things to this game (I was hoping it would break), but it is still in great shape. The quacking seems to be attractive to children. Mine like to turn the game on, then play with another toy while they sit beside Lucky Ducks. They like to put other toys on the 'track' and invent stories around the ducks. So, if you want a fun game, Lucky Ducks is a good choice. If you want peace and quiet, this game is not for you.

This is a huge hit for my girls. It's a loud toy at times but so worth the money. It was a gift for potty training. It's fun to play at playgroups and birthday party's.
