Don't let the price stop you...Mar 10, 2010 Yes, these are expensive. Yes, you will probably wonder if they are worth it. But yes, yes, yes is all I can say! Hands down, this is the best toy we own. I have a 1, 4 and 8 year old, and they all find a way to interact with the tiles. My sons build forts and garages, roads, pet houses, castles, cars, and rockets. When we go on vacation, this is the one toy they insist on bringing along. My baby loves to stick them together and pull them apart. She loves to knock boxes over and she is already learning to build with them. And the best part is, they are learning geometry without even knowing it!
You will definitely want more than one set, and I'd probably suggest starting with the 100 pieces. We let the grandparents buy these for birthdays, and even though we have 4 sets they still are always requested as a gift item. They are completely durable and have survived being thrown, stepped on and left overnight in water. You will have as much fun playing with these as your kids! Enjoy.
absolutely GREATMar 03, 2010 We have so much fun with this toy! Our daughter (34 months old) loves it and creates so many different things with it. With a little help she can build all the shapes that are pictured on the box. And she also invents her own. It's true that the box is somewhat constructed cheaply, but the tiles themselves are high quality and have survived lots of throwing so far. We also like that they are clear. She builds houses and puts her little people and animals in there.
She doesn't care that the constructions collapse easily. That's part of the fun AND it teaches her to be careful and important motor skills.
Thinking about getting an expansion set ... they are pricey, but worth every penny. Can't imagine what kind of a math genius I would have become myself if I had had those to play with as a kid! ;-)
MagnatilesJan 30, 2010 My grandchildren, ages 4&5 have been playing with these for well over a year and are still enjoying them. They are a bit pricey, but seem to be worth it.
Endless Fun, A Must Have!Jan 14, 2010 My son (one month shy of turning 4) received this set of 32 magna-tiles for Christmas, and has played with them EVERY single day since then (Nearly a month). I'm not even exaggerating. He LOVES these tiles. His cousin has the solid colored ones, but the translucent ones are even better, because he is always building structures and putting little lego guys inside of them. With the solid colored ones you can't see what is inside. This set is a perfect amount to begin with. The set comes with instructions for building many different 2-D, and 3-D shapes, of which my son can now build all of them. He especially loves building boxes as large as he can make them with all the squares and triangles, then putting his biggest dinosaur toy inside. I simply can't say enough about these tiles. They are a great toy to have for quite play time, that keeps their imaginations going.
Wish I bought these sooner!Jan 08, 2010 My oldest son had these at his preschool and his teachers told me he liked playing with them. I didn't buy them last year because I thought they were a bit pricey, but I gave in this year and got them for Christmas. My son has never really gotten into things like blocks or Legos, but has played with these tiles alot for extended periods of time (which he hardley ever stays interested in anything for too long). I like them because they encourage him to be creative and use his hands. He is always proud to show me what he "built" with them!!!
