Of all the family games we've played over the years, this is the best. It relies on creativity, not knowledge (although knowledge helps).
Many times the answers can be hilarious - and you can laugh until it hurts.
Also teaches the fine art of quick thinking and interaction.

 Fun for the whole family!May 11, 2010
I bought 2 of these games as christmas gifts for family members. It is so much fun! Similar to Balderdash, but a lot better! No writing involved! It is hard to keep a straight face when giving your answer but that's half the fun in the game!

Convulsive LaughterNov 15, 2009
More fun than any human should be allowed to have! There is always convulsive laughter and abject giddiness when we play Malarky with friends. My wife is such a poor liar that everyone cracks up when they hear her bluffs. My son-in-law is an attorney and absolutely clueless. Every one of his bluffs involves "a federal mandate."
If you want an evening of hilarity and fun, this game is for you. And it's the perfect ice-breaker.

Be a good liar to play!Nov 08, 2009
This game is fantastic for those of use who exagerate the truth, make up stories for entertainment, or just plain invent lies. What a great crowd warmer game. One person has the "real" answer, and the rest of us concoct and manuver ourselves around making our answer sound real. Be prepared to laugh, argue and have a BLAST! Highly recommended for adults. Clean and fresh humor!

 My version of Malarky - no writing requiredOct 02, 2009
I found a way to speed up the pace for Malarky. I eliminated the writing aspect. Here's how my version works:
Everyone is given a card that has three questions on it, along with a red chip and a black chip. Players in turn read one of the three questions (they will eventually read all three on the card). After looking at the answer on the back of the card, the player will give an answer, either the correct answer or a bluff they thought up. Players should look at their questions and answers ahead of time so they have a chance to think of a bluff. Sometimes changing a key word or concept is enough to make a real answer a bluff answer. The other players then vote as to whether the answer given is right or a bluff by secretly placing one of their chips down. A red chip is used for a right answer, black chips for bluffs. Everyone reveals their chips at the same time. Players score one point for guessing correctly if the answer is right or a bluff. The player asking the question scores two points for every player he/she fooled (voted wrong). After three rounds, the player with the most points wins.
This makes the game move faster, you don't have to worry about bad handwriting and you don't to remember five or six answers to a question. I find this version of Malarky to be quite fun.
