Great fun for 10+ years!!May 30, 2007
By R. Heeringa This is best for outdoors. My boys are 12 & 14. This is one toy that they will still play with. We've had them for a couple years now and the rubber bands on the front have broke. some of the arrows have lost their flights. My father, who is 71 years old, had a hard time putting it down at a family gathering. He was shooting everything and everyone. A good arrow is pretty accurate. It's best to get two so you can shoot arrows back and forth. I'm ready to buy two more sets.

Lots of fun!!!Sep 27, 2007
By Mark D. Davenport We were a little bit hesitant to purchase this toy after reading several online reviews that said it was difficult for children under age 10 to operate. Our son is 7 and has no problem at all using the compound bow and loves it. It shoots really far and is a blast to play with!!!

My 4 1/2 year old son LOVES this toy!Dec 21, 2007
By Mom of 3 I bought this for my 4 1/2 year old son. I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews that said their older children found it too complicated and frustrating. I usually follow the age recommendations on toys but since he already owned a cheap plastic bow and arrow set and could manage it I decided to take the risk. There are two little hooks on the front of the arrow that need to be hooked around the front strings. There is also a groove on the back of the arrow that needs to sit on the rear string. It took about a minute to explain this to him. I left him alone to fiddle with it for a while. Then I made suggestions like his hand needs to be behind the rear string, not in front of it. It took him less than ten minutes to get the hang of it. In no time at all he was shooting down towers of paper cups. He loves and plays with this every day! His twin sister found it more frustrating. I probably didn't give her the same amount of time to fiddle with it and figure it out for herself. I think that I frustrated her by over directing her. She doesn't play with it anymore.

Frickin' amazing - dominate your office's Nerf WarsApr 22, 2010
By D. Brennan I thought I had reached the top of the Nerf Wars food chain with the purchase of my Longshot. The problem is that eventually all weapons lose their intimidation factor, and the hordes of people wielding little Mavericks were willing to take the hits to get in close so they have a chance to get me.
Enter the Surefire Compound Bow. They advertise 100 feet, and this will easily deliver on that range and more. It hits with a resounding THUD when shot completely across the length of my office. In fact, my problem is that I feel a little guilty sometimes hitting people at triple the distance that their little guns can manage. It's good that I can deal well and quickly with guilt.
The intimidation factor is back. It doesn't hurt that this bow is completely silent. No telltale sounds from loading the darts, or even when firing. People can't tell the shot is coming until they are being knocked over as if the God of Thunder himself has struck.
A couple of practical points:
1 - The back string is useless at best and, at worst, hinders your aim. Fold it out of the way or remove it entirely. All the power comes from the rubber bands at the front of the bow.
2 - The arrows are made of foam and have a soft head. That being said, a hard shot at close range can yield yelps and whimpers from your opponents. DO NOT SHOOT THIS AT CRY-BABIES. You should also probably be careful of head shots.
3 - You get three shots, so make them count. There are 3-packs of arrows for sale, but they are always sold out.
4 - When going for distance attacks in an office, it helps to kneel when taking your shot. This gives you a higher arc range.
5 - If you are scared of hitting someone in the head at long range, aim in front or above of them. The fright factor from the noise of the impact is enough to reinforce your message of dominance.

Double FunNov 10, 2009
Does your child get enough exercise? Do they like going outside to play? If you answered no to either of these questions, then the Surefire Compound Bow X2 would make an excellent gift for Christmas for them!
The foam arrows shoot over a hundred feet making target practice more challenging than other bow and arrow sets that you can buy. Kids ages eight to twelve would love this toy because they can peg their siblings or other targets from a long distance away. It comes with three arrows and an arrow holder so they don't have to pick the arrows up off the ground. Instead they can wear them around their shoulder.
With a normal bow, kids would be in danger of getting hit by the string but this bow has a arm guard that keeps the arm straight so that they do not injure their arm while using it.
Your child will build muscles when they pull back the bow because it has three strings that they will pull against to launch the arrow. Then after they have shot all three arrows, they will run to get them giving them lots of heart healthy exercise.
This toy is not easily controlled if used indoors. So your kids won't be glued to video games or the TV screen all day but instead will play with the Surefire Compound Bow X2 outside while you enjoy hours of peace to get your work done.
This bow will make your kids have a safe fun time outdoors while they burn off energy. Buy it now to insure this exciting gift makes it under your tree for Christmas morning!
