 Much better than the other version!Jun 01, 2010
Advanced Mastermind is a reprint of the original version. It follows a very simple concept -- make a secret code with colored pegs and challenge your opponent to guess it within a certain number of attempts. This version expands the choices of colors to 9: white, black, magenta, purple, yellow, orange, green, blue, and no peg at all. The code section now has five slots, as opposed to the other version's four. This makes for both a much more difficult game and for many, many more possible code combinations. It comes in a durable corrugated cardboard box -- odd for a board game -- but I like it. I only wish that it had more colored pegs. Overall, 5 stars.

I love this game- the way it makes my brain work. I played the original as a kid and recently got the advanced version. I read these reviews prior to buying and see what the other reviewer was saying about not enough indicator pegs. I wrote an email to Pressman toys and included a picture of us trying to play with strips of paper after the little pegs ran out. The toy rep wrote me back a week later and said they would send me more pegs no charge. I just got them today. I am pleased that they righted their wrong!

I was kinda surprised by the cheap feel of the game (and even the box!) considering the [..] price tag. It was however, a very fun and challenging game. Be careful to not lose the small pieces. If you did, or just thought there weren't enough, you could always buy another board! ;)

It's a fun game, doesn't take long, and teaches logical thinking. II played it when I was a kid, and my oldest loves it. Seems durable enough, no complaints so far.
