Wheeley BugAug 04, 2010 So glad I read the reviews before buying this! As it was for my 1 year old niece, I was going to purchase the small one, because you can't get much smaller than a 1 year old! After reading the reviews, I went with the larger one - thank goodness! It's tiny - I can't fathom what the small one looks like or who could ride it! That being said, I love it, and more importantly, my niece loves it! It was the hit of her birthday and she cried when they tried to take her off it! Can't get better than that!! Probably paid too much, but that's what an aunt is for! : )
Cute and sturdyJun 06, 2010 Very cute. My one year old grandson is still too little to ride on this toy but he likes to push it around. The small does appear quite small but it is so sturdy that it will for sure last a long time. The older kids at the birthday party (ages 5-8) played on it for some time. I think the free moving wheels make it fun enough to make up for small size. I have not seen the larger size but I am very happy with the small size. And the provider was very prompt in shipping. Good experience.
Small is just right for toddlersJun 05, 2010 I've read a lot of comments about the small Wheely Bug being too small for most children - and I think that's crazy. I bought the small Wheely Bug for a one year-old's first birthday, and while it took her a month or so to get the hang of climbing onto it, she was able to push it around right away. Now that she's 14 months old, she loves climbing aboard and starting to scoot it around with her little feet (which just touch the ground). Now for those of you worried that a toddler won't be able to use it for long, let me tell you that her almost 5 year-old sister uses the small Wheely Bug DAILY. She whizzes around the hardwood floors like she's on a racetrack. The Wheely Bug has such great dexterity of movement that she can spin in circles while zooming across the floor. She is an average sized girl of almost five who still loves the small Wheely Bug. In fact, she has begged me to get her a large-sized Wheely Bug for her 5th birthday coming up - and I'm going to do that. This toy can easily be adapted by older kids who learn to push off and then prop their feet up while they whiz by. It's a GREAT toy and I'm so happy to have found it.
So for you parents wondering what size to get, follow the product recommendations (1.5+ for small, 3 years for large) and have no worries. You'll be happy with the investment.
Small Wheely Bug Fun!Jun 02, 2010 I bought the small Wheely Bug Bee for my nephew on his first birthday. I was debating between the small and the large based on the reviews for the product. I'm glad I bought the small after all. He can just sit on it with his feet touching (he's an average sized little boy!) He hasn't gotten the hang of pushing himself with his feet but he loves to push it standing up! It's built for romping on and looks like it will withstand the test of time. Great fun and cute to look at too!
Cute, But Overpriced and OverratedMay 30, 2010 We bought this toy for our 1-year-old son in December 2009. He has played with it two or three times, mostly pushing it because he is still a little small to ride on his own (we purchased the large sized bug). We also have a 4-year-old son who rides on it occassionally. To my disappointment they were not too excited about it. This May my mom bought a Tonka Truck sit and scoot for $5.00 at a yard sale and brought it over. I thought, "Great, another duplicate toy to add to our collection," but to my surprise both boys were all over it. They even fight over riding on it. This Tonka Truck sit and scoot has a little horn, steering wheel, flashing blinkers, and music which both boys love. My in-laws also have a Winnie the Pooh sit and scoot (which I couldn't find any more, since it was purchased 3 years ago) that they bought for my 4-year-old and they love that one too. Every time they go to their grandparents house they fight over it. So I was dissapointed that we paid so much money for something that just looks cute. I'd say save your money and buy one with lights, sounds, storage, etc. The Wheely Bug doesn't have any of those features. It is however, very cute, well made, rolls very easily and turns well in comparison to the other two I mentioned, but then again it doesn't get much use. I would definately not buy this product again for myself or as a gift.
