All Around FUN card game !Jan 10, 2010
We had played this card game at our grandkid's house. (They are 4 and 6.) Afterwards I had to order the game for my house, to have for the other kids. We played it New Year's Eve party with only adults. Had a blast. It is a fun game that does not require reading and the rules are flexible. I recommend this game to anyone that likes a challenge of chance & memory. The goal of the game is to have the fewest points with Cats and not get caught with the high scoring Rats.. The 4 star score for durability is because it is a "card game", they will eventually wear out.

The salespeople at a great local toy store recommended this game for my 6-year old. I never would have looked at this twice if they hadn't told me about it. I thought the directions seemed a little confusing at first but once we started playing it we loved it! Very simple, different and fun.
Great Game and Develops Math SkillsDec 09, 2009
My 6 year old twin boys love this game! We've played with 2, 3 and 4 players, but we really enjoy playing as a family. I like the fact that the children must add up their cards at the end of each round developing math skills in a fun way. At the beginning of the game, you decide how many rounds you'll play and the winner is the player with the lowest number of total points. We usually play 5-6 rounds per game. Takes 15 minutes. My kids always want to play again, so keeping each game short works for us and gives more players a chance to win. It was an easy to learn game and does require some simple strategy. It's a game we enjoy playing over and over. I think an appropriate age range would be 5 years +.

Best card game ever, 4 and up!Dec 09, 2009
I began playing Rat-A-Tat-Cat with my daughter when she turned four, and it became her favorite game instantly. Any kids who can count fron zero to nine can play this game successfully and enjoyably. It's quick to finish (our longest game ever took less than 10 minutes, purely because we were both stubbornly trying to get a ZERO score!). The cards are durable and small enough for kids to handle easily. And since you only use four cards per "hand", and they go face DOWN on the table for the entire game, no struggles with tiny hands holding masses of cards! The luck factor means that anyone has the same chance of winning. We're still playing this quite often, six years later, and my daughter still regularly beats me!

It's all been said before...but this game is really great. My 6 y.o. says it is her favorite game. It's educational and fun- what a perfect combo! My almost-4-y.o. plays too, but often needs help.
