New Favorite GameAug 24, 2010
We discovered this game at a vacation home that we rented for the week recently - and once we got started, we had a hard time putting it down. We played 6 or 7 rounds at a sitting, my wife my child (5) and I. My 5 year old had no trouble at all picking up on the rules, but she can be bit more game-seasoned than other kids her age - so maybe the age 6 recommendation is appropriate.
My only trouble now has been getting my hands on a copy from a store - surprising how many stores carry Gamewright games and don't have Rat-A-Tat-Cat, maybe they get games in mixed batches and they sell out?
We are picky about games - and love this one.
best travel entertainment for the familyAug 01, 2010
This has been the family favourite for travel and restaurant entertainment for the last 4 years, even now at 10 years old is still entertaining my kids. Big plus:
Keeps adults interested too
Very easy for kids to teach to their friends and to other kids on holiday. Even to new friends who don't speak the same language. We just met a French family in Brazil with a pack of Rat-a-tat-cat!
Easy to pack for travel
Have now added Frog Juice to the suitcase - more complex and also excellent. Now looking for more Gamewright games. Keep up the good work!

All Around FUN card game !Jan 10, 2010
We had played this card game at our grandkid's house. (They are 4 and 6.) Afterwards I had to order the game for my house, to have for the other kids. We played it New Year's Eve party with only adults. Had a blast. It is a fun game that does not require reading and the rules are flexible. I recommend this game to anyone that likes a challenge of chance & memory. The goal of the game is to have the fewest points with Cats and not get caught with the high scoring Rats.. The 4 star score for durability is because it is a "card game", they will eventually wear out.

The salespeople at a great local toy store recommended this game for my 6-year old. I never would have looked at this twice if they hadn't told me about it. I thought the directions seemed a little confusing at first but once we started playing it we loved it! Very simple, different and fun.
Great Game and Develops Math SkillsDec 09, 2009
My 6 year old twin boys love this game! We've played with 2, 3 and 4 players, but we really enjoy playing as a family. I like the fact that the children must add up their cards at the end of each round developing math skills in a fun way. At the beginning of the game, you decide how many rounds you'll play and the winner is the player with the lowest number of total points. We usually play 5-6 rounds per game. Takes 15 minutes. My kids always want to play again, so keeping each game short works for us and gives more players a chance to win. It was an easy to learn game and does require some simple strategy. It's a game we enjoy playing over and over. I think an appropriate age range would be 5 years +.
