Great toyAug 23, 2010 I gave this toy to my son for his 10th birthday and he says "it's genius" and "I'd like to warmly shake the hand of whoever invented this." This is a fantastic toy and my son has learned a lot from it about basic electrical circuits. He has spent hours with it. The projects are easy to assemble because of the excellent instructions. Someone needs to sell this in our city of Saskatoon!
Great Educational ToyAug 20, 2010 Bought Snap Circuits SC-300 for grandson's 9th birthday. He loved it. He is learning new science concepts daily. It was one of his favorite presents.
Great projectsJul 30, 2010 My almost 7 year old daughter loves to make these projects. Right now she definitely needs supervision, mostly for the explanations. There are 2 books of projects and once you understand the basics you can play around with designs yourself. I think that might be a year or so ahead for her. I know I have enjoyed playing with it.
Awesome!Jul 09, 2010 We bought this for my son for his 5th Birthday. He LOVES "experiments". At first I thought it may be too old for him, but it's perfect. Very indestructable and easy to follow the instructions. I don't know who's more excited to own this, my son or my husband!
The best gift ever!Jun 30, 2010 I bought two of these sets, one for a six-year-old, tho other for a twelve-year-old. The six-year-old liked the toy well enough, but he needed a lot of help in putting some of the projects together. He loved the flying saucer project and set it off several times in a row. The 12-year-old, however, was completely entranced. He opened the box and immediately set about making a doorbell, a radio, a flying saucer, a Morse code program, a trombone, a typewriter, and several other projects--all before the end of his birthday party!. His sisters, one 14 and the other 12, were also entranced and had to be reminded this was their brother's gift. I do not recall ever giving a gift that has been this much of an immediate "hit."
One thing I wondered about: Are the kids really learning about electronics, or are they just following the diagrams? But I think that this approach is similar to the way kids learn a video game or a computer program: They do not read about it and analyze it; they just do it, and learn in the doing. If you ask as they are making a project, "Can you think of an application for that?", the learning will be enhanced.
I recommend this toy highly, and I am thinking of ordering the Snap Circuits 750 as a gift for all three kids for Christmas.
