Worth the money, fun for all fans, great party game!Oct 13, 2005
By peter485 Recently, I started to become a TPIR Fan by noticing how clever and creative the games on the show has become. Add the fun with contestants, a host, and prizes, its why TPIR is still on CBS for 34 years.
You'll miss the comfort of interaction with Bob Barker, but considering that TPIR has not had any video game since a terrible 90 Commodor 64 game, this DVD came at the right time
when DVD's are added to the board game (no computer needed).
The game is complete with 6 whiteboards, 4 markers to write down the total prices.
They couldn't put all 40+ games they have done, but I love these games: 5 Price Tags, Cliff Hangers, Danger Price, Golden Road, Grand Game, Lucky 7, Most Expensive, Pass The Buck, Plinko, Push Over, Safe Crackers, and Shell Game.
Also, you can bid on Contestant Row's Products, spin Showcase Showdown's wheel, and compete in the final round selecting multiple choice to be "closer than the actual retail price without going over!"
*Pro: Easy set up, still shots of real products, great 3D view of the game show set, fun games that anyone can play, host explains instructions, play any part of the show, add a few video clips from the show, and 3D views of these games! All the wonderful music, graphics, and models are from the show!
*Con: Can't control the speed of the wheel, Todd Newton's voice and some of the price results are displayed too fast, different annoucners are used (Rich Fields, Rod Rodey, and Burton Richardson), and I've heard from others about control function problems. Finally, Bob Barker's not in it, although they hired Todd Newton, a great replacement.
Overall, this can be taken to a party with a DVD player, and everyone can play it with no set up. Although it's the first version, remember that a DVD can only contain so much and they certainally put a lot of effort into this game! I'd rather play this type of game on a TV, than installing a PC Game that may even still stall, or play TPIR's complex board game where someone has to read all the instructions before hand and know how to set up the game pieces, taking a lot of time.

Price is almost rightJan 30, 2006
By Cleo Patty I really enjoy the game & so do my grand kids, especially Plinko. It's great fun & just like on TV. The only problem is that there are not enough variables in the games and after awhile you know the prices. It's a little repetitive. I give it 4 stars over all.

Come On Down?!Feb 17, 2006

There is just so much going on with the success of DVD games in the toy market these days. Nevertheless, the feeling of placing games on DVD has not always been as smooth and strong as you would definitely expect. That also has been the case with placing game shows nto the home game market too. With game shows like Name That Tune, Password and Family Feud having that as a board game isn't really all what it is cracked up to be. That also can be said for The Price Is Right too. The most popular game show in daytime television and on CBS has always had a difficulty of placing games into that measure. Now that longtime game show is being placed on the DVD board game. Can this be just as good as the show on television?
The Price Is Right DVD game, gives a beautiful and actual simulated experience of actually being in the studio where The Price Is Right is. The game shows that beautifully with the graphics and textures from spinning the big wheel, to a drop of a single plinko chip, and even displays the original themes that have made it a game show legend. The DVD features a dozen games from Price Is Right's lineup that are elegantly detailed including Grand Game, Cliffhangers, Plinko, Pass The Buck, Most Expensive, Golden Road, and Safe Crackers to name a few. The games still have a lot of fun, and also are shown beautifully. That also shows with actually stills of prizes, the Barker beauties', and the products that are highlighted from the show itself.
While the design is great, there are a few disadvantages to The Price Is Right as well. One of the biggest disadvantages is that there are just too few pricing games shown. Classic games like It's In The Bag, Squeeze Play, Three Strikes, Secret X, and Hit Me aren't really highlighted here at all. Although, it is just difficult just to display all of them onto one game alone. Another problem is that you hear different announcers describe each of the items on the show from Rich Fields, to Burton Richardson who worked on the Family Feud DVD game, to even the late Rod Roddy who died in 2003 from colon cancer. Not only that but Bob Barker, the host of Price Is Right isn't highlighted here either. Instead, Todd Newton, the host of GSN's Whammy: The All New Press Your Luck is the DVD M.C. here. Nevertheless, Todd does deliver well as a substitue host.
Despite all that The Price Is Right DVD game isn't all that bad, but I just wish there was just so much more to play around with in the process. That is just the main problem. Still, if you haven't seen The Price Is Right on television, or if you haven't played any of the games, than his would be a great buy. As for die hard fans of the show, you're just better off taping it everyday instead.

I was very pleased with this DVD game. It combines all the favorites from my favorite gameshow. This is a game you can play with a small or large group, or even just wasting time by yourself. I am a big fan of the classics such as Plinko, Mountain Climber and Safe Cracker... they are all there! Great fun for the entire family.

Love the price is right... may never watch it again after playing this gameAug 24, 2009

I got the pleasure, or should I say displeasure of playing this game last night. Some friends had told me how much fun they had gotten out of the game when playing it (after having some alcohol) and I was excited to try it as I love trying new games. To my dismay, right out of the box, it comes with less dry erase pens then there are flimsy cardboard dry erase boards to play with. I understand contestant's row only has four players at a time, but we wanted everyone to play at once; they should have only included four dry erase boards).
The game play from the DVD menus was extremely choppy and needed better continuity. It would take a very patient person to play this game any really get a kick out of it. The prizes and prices were realistic but they were repeated within the first twenty minutes of game play - some sort of system should be in place on the disc to at the very LEAST order them in one specific order. This game looks like it was made about ten years ago and has very bad stills and clips from the actual show, it looks as if this game cost about $450 to make and they paid a twelve year old who is both a beginner at programming and Photoshop to do the work when he isn't delivering his paper route. Games like this make me sad for kids who have to endure the pain of playing it on Christmas day of their birthday as it will probably be in the trash by bedtime or even worse - on the way to a second-hand store where someone else is going to have to go through the pain of popping this game into their DVD player.
Unless you are very young and could enjoy the bright flashing colors and sounds from the game or very old and actually use some of the terrible products featured on the game, this 'game' is not for you. Go spend this money on a moderately priced meal at Applebee's because you will get much more pleasure out of that then you will playing this waste of time.
For as far as endless Price is Right goes, I wanted the 'fun' to stop within thirty minutes.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.
